Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company's Optical Payload Center of Excellence is seeking a candidate to support Electro-Optical (EO) Payload development with a focus on focal plane/sensor signal chain for space applications. The individual will be associated with the full end-to-end signal chain electronics, driving focal planes, transferring data, and image processing for advanced 2D sensor arrays and line scanners. The selected candidate will be responsible for (a) electronic circuitry designs and development of E-O component interfaces with specific characteristics to fit within specified mechanical & power limits and to perform according to specifications, (b) designs, analyzes, and tests optical and electro-optical systems and components, (c) apply research of complex opto-mechanical systems to develop desired optical pointing and stabilization, and (d) develop image processing capability and data collection strategy aligned with current and future needs across remote sensing portfolio. Candidate will communicate results of trade studies and signal chain results through technical reports and presentations. Candidate will participate in intellectual property development. Participate in proposal activities, program reviews, and support customer engagement.
? BS in Electrical Engineering, Electro-Optics, or Physics with 5 years or MS in and 3 years
? Background in electro-optic sensors and/or electronics
? Familiarity with imaging focal planes and relevant performance parameters
? Practical and theoretical knowledge of laboratory hardware for electro-optical sensor and/or optical pointing & stabilization component characterization
? Familiarity with integration, test and verification of electronics and sensor systems
? Experience with electronics processor requirements and usage
? Knowledge of requirements development and writing specifications based on system requirements.
? Experience in the development of verification plans and approaches to support development
? Good communication skills
? Ability to obtain a security clearance
? Advanced degree in electro-optics, electrical engineering, or related field.
? Space Based EO sensor signal chain design experience
? Experience in Space Based precision pointing and controls
? Space hardware experience
? Radiation testing and qualification of electro-optical hardware
? Development project experience
? Team leadership experience on a development program
? Strong understanding of digital electronics, especially high speed serial interfaces (Gbps class), signal integrity, and timing
? Familiarity with focal plane performance parameters and their application
? Experienced in requirements definition, system design, debug and test of aerospace systems
? Experience with FPGAs/ASICs for high-reliability applications
? Experience developing RTL utilizing a hardware description language (e.g. VHDL, Verilog, and/or SystemVerilog) and debug the design via simulation tools
? Excellent written and verbal communication skills
? Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
? Effectively manage change
? Active TS/SCI Clearance
