This Director of Indirect Tax will lead the transaction tax compliance team. The position involves working with US taxing jurisdictions, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to comply with transaction tax reporting requirements and accounting functions. About Transaction Tax at WalmartÂ
Â
The transaction tax compliance team is responsible for timely and accurate reporting of sales/use, gross receipts, product, and excise taxes as well as the related accounting activities for all business lines. This team partners closely with the sales tax operations, indirect tax audit, and tax tech and data teams to ensure the company meets its transaction tax obligations. The transaction scale and scope of complexity of taxation at Walmart will attract individuals who are excited to navigate undefined challenges and are engaged by intellectually stimulating work.Â

What you’ll do:Â
Mentor and develop team members, providing ongoing feedback, and identifying opportunities for growthÂ
Manage the monthly tax data processes along with review and approval of returns prepared by an external providerÂ
Manage in monthly close activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reportingÂ
Certify account reconciliations for transaction tax accounts, ensuring accuracy and complianceÂ
Lead transaction tax SOX reporting and maintenance of strong internal controls Â
Work closely with the Sales Tax Operations, Indirect Tax Audit and Tax Technology and Data teams to continue to enhance processes and governanceÂ
Consult on new business initiatives to ensure proper reporting and accounting controls are implementedÂ
Conduct tax research and provide technical advice on reporting requirements Â
Identify and implement process improvements to the current workflows of the team Â
Work with our data and technology teams to guide their short and long-term roadmapsÂ
Establish and enforce KPI's to measure team effectiveness and business responsivenessÂ

What you’ll bring:Â
Advanced degree or certification related to taxation (e.g. JD, LLM, Master's Degree, CPA, or CMI)Â
12+ years of overall experience in taxation or a related areaÂ
8+ years of experience in sales taxÂ
6+ years in a leadership positionÂ
Experience at global companies in retail and ecommerce industriesÂ
Expertise in setting standard procedures for compliance and accounting activities in a cross-functional environmentÂ
Proficiency with ERP systems, data tools, and tax software designed for corporate scaleÂ
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skillsÂ

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$260,000.00?Â
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.?Â
