Quality Engineer

Status: Full-time, on-site

NWI Nashville is seeking a talented Quality Engineer to provide crucial Program Quality Engineering support and comprehensive Quality analysis to our Production Teams and other internal organizations. The Quality Engineer will play a pivotal role in developing and evaluating QA processes, work instructions, site-specific procedures, and advocating for improvements to bolster the Continuous Improvement process for the site and division. This position also entails taking the lead in the Root Cause and Corrective Action process for Quality issues and defects.

Responsibilities
â?¢ Job will involve maintaining conformance to Customer, AS9100, Nadcap (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program) requirements in machining, painting, metal forming, assembly and knowledge of heat treating.
â?¢ Conduct internal audits.
â?¢ Support review of contracts, customer requirements and specifications, and provide assistance to other internal processes such as manufacturing engineering, production and product inspection.
â?¢ Applies a strong knowledge of quality systems to developing and/or improving the systems and products necessary to ensure that the business attains its annual goals and meets internal, customer, and regulatory requirements, in addition to meeting requirements to ISO9001/AS9100.
â?¢ Implement common processes and procedures in support of QMS effectiveness.
â?¢ Work with customers during on-site scheduled audits and visits.
â?¢ Solve problems and troubleshoot using good judgment, interfacing with other departments/suppliers to ensure thorough root cause/ corrective action is completed for all nonconformances on assigned customer products.
â?¢ Collect, analyze and evaluate data on SPC, defect, and control limit trends.
â?¢ Track, Monitor and measure FAI data.
â?¢ Communicate issues or opportunities for improvement identified during quality assurance activities and provide recommended process improvements.
â?¢ Play an active role on quality management teams within the organization.
â?¢ Contribute to team effort by maintaining a positive outlook.
â?¢ Maintain, analyze and distribute required Quality Metrics.
â?¢ Prepare and present necessary information for Management Reviews.
â?¢ Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety requirements.
â?¢ Foster positive relationships with internal and external customers.

Qualifications
â?¢ Engineering degree or other technical field of study; Or, in lieu of a degree, equivalent experience with strong emphasis in Manufacturing Quality Control.
â?¢ At least 5 years of experience in a lead auditor role.
â?¢ Comprehensive understanding of the standards, implementation and certification process of Quality Management Systems, customer specific Quality System certification programs, Corrective Action, Root Cause Analysis, Control Plans, Process Analysis, Cost of Quality, and associated statistical tools used to analyze problems.
â?¢ Experience using Epicor or other ERP system, SPC-XL, Mini-tab, QI-Macro, or other statistical software, MS Project, Visio a plus.
â?¢ Lean Six Sigma and Ishakawa Diagram experience with basic understanding of 6S, Value Stream Mapping etc., desired.
â?¢ Demonstrated analytical skills to proactively identify and solve problems.
â?¢ Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with ability to explain a range of complex technical information to a diverse audience as well as drive tasks to completion.
â?¢ CQE certification preferred.
