Description:
Designer / Drafter III
The Designer/Drafter II located at our Fluid Components International Location in San Marcos, CA reports to our Engineering Supervisor and is responsible for carrying out design/drafting assignments, preparing sketches/ diagrams and applying all preliminary information to develop a final design.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and parts from preliminary drawings, sketches, written matter and verbal instructions. This material covers assemblies, application and installation.
Prepare electronic (CAD) drawings for new products, tooling or machinery when requested.
Make scale, label, and bulletin layouts using the computer aided design (CAD) system to suit engineering or customer requirements. Maintain a file of all special scales used and provide conversion scales and negatives as required.
Change drawings and BOM's, noting revisions, when design or component part changes. Maintain part numbering system and apply new part numbers as required.
Prepare documents in compliance with DwyerOmega's processes.
Work collaboratively with other design team members and act as coordinator with San Marcos design team.
Develop solutions for issues that may cause problem or constraints among internal and external customers.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI's):
Prepare engineering drawings and electrical schematics.

Requirements:
Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:
Bachelor's or Associate's Degree education level or equivalent experience.
At least 2 to 3 years of related experience & knowledge of commonly employed drafting.
Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software such SolidWorks and AutoCAD
Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) - have the ability to design products/instructions with manufacturing efficiency in mind, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and ease of production
Ability to work accurately for long periods at visually demanding work.
Ability to employ intermediate to advance level engineering techniques in preparing drawing and models.
Possess advancement to develop level 2&3 dimensional drawing skills, including 2D/3D CAD.
Ability to work with tools and model makers in preparing drawings or work fabricated from sketch.
