Overview

The Benefits Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the organization’s employee benefits programs. This role ensures that benefits offerings are competitive, compliant with legal requirements, and aligned with the company’s strategic goals. The Benefits Manager collaborates with internal teams and external vendors to deliver high-quality benefits that attract, retain, and support a diverse workforce.



Responsibilities

· Benefits Program Design and Management:

· Develop and oversee comprehensive employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, leave policies, and other ancillary benefits.

· Evaluate and recommend changes to benefits offerings based on market trends, employee needs, and cost considerations.

· Compliance and Legal Adherence:

· Ensure all benefits programs comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ACA, and other applicable laws.

· Prepare and file required regulatory reports and maintain accurate records.

· Vendor and Contract Management:

· Manage relationships with benefits providers, brokers, and consultants to negotiate terms, ensure quality service, and resolve issues.

· Monitor vendor performance against service-level agreements and address concerns as needed.

· Employee Communication and Support:

· Develop and deliver clear, engaging communication materials to educate employees about benefits options and changes.

· Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and resolve benefits-related concerns promptly and effectively.

· Collaboration with HR and business leaders to ensure benefits strategies align with and support overall business objectives.

· Data Analysis and Reporting:

· Analyze benefits utilization data to identify trends and make recommendations for program improvements.

· Prepare reports on benefits costs, employee participation, and program effectiveness for leadership review.

· Open Enrollment and Events:

· Plan and execute the annual open enrollment process, ensuring a smooth experience for employees.

· Organize benefits-related events, such as wellness fairs and retirement planning workshops.

· People Management:

· Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing digital marketing team, providing strategic guidance, support, and development opportunities to drive individual and team success.

· Subject to the requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 and Ajinomoto Food’s HIPAA Privacy and Security policies and procedures, assisting the Ajinomoto Food health plan with day-to-day activities involving protected health information, including but not limited to, assisting with employee claims, coordinating benefits, determining health claim status, determining eligibility for coverage, budgeting and renewal, billing and collection activities, obtaining assistance from third-parties for plan functions, and any other duties delegated by the HIPAA Privacy or Security Officer.



Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or other related field
  • 8-10 years of progressive medical and 401(k) program oversight and experience.
  • 4-6 years of management experience in HR required
  • Professional certification in benefits, retirement and wellness preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of benefits regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and benefits management systems.
  • Federal and state regulatory and other requirements and practices related to benefits, Healthcare Reform, Retirement, and Leave of Absence Administration.
  • Excellent communication skills, this includes presentation development and delivery skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate, influence and negotiate with others; including delivery of difficult change management messages.
  • Must be able to work with high volumes of confidential information in a professional manner.
  • Must be detailed oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate with team members and guests.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and days of the week including holidays and weekends.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Occasional travel to company locations as needed to support program implementation and execution.
  • Range $135,000 to $145,000
