The Tax Senior will be responsible for the preparation or review of working papers to support the U.S. consolidated group's tax compliance. This role includes preparation of quarterly estimates, preparation or review of compliance working papers, research to support conclusions, and providing feedback to staff when reviewing the work. The Tax Senior will work closely with the Tax Director and International Manager to be sure relevant transactions are reported properly on the US tax returns. Additionally, this role includes reviewing sales and use tax returns and working with related departments to ensure accurate taxation and reporting. This position will report directly to the Tax Director. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Maintain required level of technical knowledge and understanding of impact on the company; including but not limited to 2017 TCJA, 2020 CARES Act, and 2022 Inflation Reduction Act
Support U.S. tax compliance projects with workpaper preparation or review, working closely with Tax Director as well as outside tax advisors and service providers
Assist with research, preparation, and maintenance of working papers for various high-profile book-tax differences and other significant tax transactions
Assist with the preparation of off-cycle, quarterly and year-end tax accrual calculations for the U.S. Consolidated group of entities
Assist with research and preparation of documentation for income tax accrual computations and interim and year-end financial audit inquiries
Assist with review and data management of the Indirect Tax function like sales and use tax, business license, and annual reports
Build and maintain relationships within the Company including Financial Reporting, Legal, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable
Manage status of state controversy, propose or review responses
Understand the fundamentals of the deferred taxes to assist the Tax Director
Keep abreast of current tax developments and educate others as necessary
Assist other special projects as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA license desired
4 years of relevant tax experience required; with a U.S. based multinational corporation, top 20 public accounting firm, or a combination thereof
1 year experience required reviewing staff work
Ability to articulate needs and issues with competent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to self-review work product for reasonableness before submission to ensure accuracy
Ability to manage priorities for deadlines
Respectful towards colleagues and internal clients (other departments)
Highly organized, self-motivated, with high standards of accuracy
Ability to work with team members and work as a team
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and thorough knowledge of Excel, Outlook, and Teams
Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and its tools
Knowledge of OneSource Tax Provision desired but not required
Knowledge of fixed asset software required for general understanding and usage
