POSITION SUMMARY

The position will assist the Center-Based Early Childhood Site Manager in the implementation and development of the EHS-CB program's daily activities, goals, and procedures, ensuring maximum participation, effectiveness, and efficiency for children, families, and staff. While not solely a supervisory role, this position includes responsibilities such as supporting the supervision and evaluation of center-based teachers and conducting orientation for new staff members, as directed by the Site Manager


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:


• Maintains confidentiality with respect to information and records concerning children and families.

• Support teachers in monitoring and assessing student progress to provide feedback to parents/guardians via app.

• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a positive learning environment

• Maintain a clean and organized classroom

• Ensures all agency safety program efforts are enforced, and compliance of overall operations of program procedures and services of center

.• Keeps appropriate data and files on families, outreach conducted and assist in program evaluation.

• Develops a plan to ensure the safety of the children within the group in utilizing indoor and outdoor facilities, completes daily health and safety checklist and work orders for repairs and maintenance timely - inspects/facilities for hazardous conditions and unsafe environment and materials and completes daily health and safety checklists.

• Supervises activities of children to ensure their safety – inside the classroom and at the playground.

• Recognizes and report accidents, illnesses, and suspected child abuse to appropriate personnel according to timelines.

• Conducts monthly emergency drills (in coordinator with the HSD)

• Assist in the classroom (substituting for teachers as needed).

• Conducts outreach visits to agencies and other community places with the purpose of recruiting families onto the EHS wait list

• Ensures compliance with all State, Federal and Agency Policies & Procedures.

• Supports the Site Supervisor and work closely with the Family Support Services to ensure that high quality services are being provided to all children and families of the program.

• Make two (2) home visits per year for each child to assess needs and keep parents informed about the child's progress.

• Conduct developmental screenings and observations.

• Participates fully and works cooperatively as a team member; addresses complaints and works to resolve problems effectively and efficiently.

• Generates, collects and/or maintains current, accurate, organized, written and electronic records and reports as required.

• Collects and submits accurate and timely reports and assists in program evaluation as required by EHS.

• Supports with tracking and monitoring for classroom/janitorial supplies and tracking and distribution of classroom materials/supplies.

• Assist with CACFP (food) program.

• Monitors and assess student progress and provide feedback to parents/guardians via app• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a positive learning environment

• Complete and submit accurate and timely reports as assigned.

• Assist the Site Supervisor to provide guidance to center-based teachers and provides orientation for new staff members.

• Assists in developing and conducting trainings for the Center Based Teachers.

• Participates in staff meetings, training and other department and staff programs.

• Assist in preparing an ongoing assessment of equipment and materials for Center Based Teachers.

• Participates in reflective supervision meetings with Director and provide reflective Supervisor for Center Based staff.

• Full-time Flexible hours (some evenings and Saturdays will be required – and traveling to different locations including storage, HQ and other sites).

• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)


• Bachelor's degree (BA) in Early Childhood Education.

• A minimum of 3 years actual classroom teaching experience

• Current California Child Development Site Supervisor Permit and experience in similar program Required.

• Required - Proof of completion of core ECE courses: 6 Infant Units, (ECE201 Child Development, ECE210 Early Childhood Education, and ECE211 Early Childhood Education Curriculum, ECE212 Child, Family and Community and 2 Units of Adult Supervision/Early Childhood Mentoring, ECE 065

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, and Strong communication and organizational skills and interpersonal. Head Start knowledge preferred.


LICENSING AND CERTIFICATIONS (IF APPLICABLE)

  • First Aid certification and Child CPR certification required.
  • Health Exam required
  • Pertussis (whooping cough) and measles immunization
  • Negative tuberculosis screen required
  • Hepatitis B Vaccination (recommended)
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
