CLASSIFICATION: Junior Engineer Specialist, LGTF; Salary

GRADE: Exempt; Regular Full-time

LOCATION: Landing Gear Test Facility/Wright-Patterson AFB (Area B), OH

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Systems engineering support for the USAF Landing Gear Test Facility (LGTF). Responsibility is for the LGTF’s test machines’ system hardware, control interface, and systems control software including test and evaluation profiles. Systems responsibilities include test machine operability, troubleshooting, and maintenance with emphasis on motor and machine control associated with the facility’s test dynamometers, tire force and wear, compression, and fatigue test machines.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Work independently with some oversight from senior level personnel who guide the junior engineer specialist to resolve basic tasks.
  • Provide support for facility testing efforts and engineering support.
  • Assist in planning, provisioning, execution, analysis, and cleanup of test programs.
  • Design, analyze, install, operate, maintain, evaluate and troubleshoot mechanical, hydro-mechanical systems, or electro-mechanical devices, and test systems and fixtures.
  • Analyze test request plans, data, and information to determine feasibility and costs of potential testing from a variety of customers.
  • Provide engineering analysis, solid modeling and CAD support for all phases of the test program using the appropriate PC based CAD and analysis tools.
  • Utilize current knowledge of testing systems and equipment to obtain customer testing goals.
  • Design and fabricate test products, systems, support equipment, and customer test specimens for controls, mechanical, hydraulic, and heat transfer systems, and digital video recording equipment.


Job Requirements:

OTHER DUTIES: Additional duties may be assigned to support contract requirements.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A BS degree from an accredited school in Aeronautical/Aerospace, Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering and two years experience or an AS degree in Engineering Technology and five years of related experience

SKILLS:

- Engineering and Project Engineering experience

- Desired: Familiarity and experience with common hand tools, electronic and physical measuring devices, test instrumentation (e.g. pressure, force, temperature, and strain), troubleshooting, machine control, controls engineering, engineering drawings, documentation, and Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.

- Knowledge and experience in supporting tests related to aircraft wheels, tires, brakes, and landing gear is a plus

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: May be required to work overtime as required with prior notice. Required to successfully obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance. Supports the company's operational objectives and is required to comply with company quality, safety, environmental, security and administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be capable of performing required tasks and support mission requirements in a variety of environmental conditions both inside and outside.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to perform assigned duties while using wide variations of physical effort such as sitting, walking, standing, crawling, climbing, or remaining in awkward, sometimes strained, positions for extended periods of time.
