Job Description:
SUMMARY:
The Supply Specialist is primarily responsible for performing tasks involving the material release orders, receipt, delivery of supplies, inventory solutions, upkeep and maintenance of all DLA supplies and equipment. Processes receipts, location surveys, inventories,
warehouse functions, PPP&M, and pack. Will utilizes a variety of electronic devices where applicable. Provides customer assistance by performing data cleansing, research, feedback to the customer and processes customer requisitions. Tasks also include complying with year-end and close out actions, preparing discrepancy reports and maintaining stock.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Processes physical inventory counts and causative research IAW the DLA’s standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process manuals.
- Submits and completes Incoming Supply Discrepancy Reports IAW DLA SOPs and process manuals.
- Initiates and completes locations surveys, location validations, and location maintenance IAW the DLA’s SOPs and process manuals.
- Performs ADHOC discrepancy research IAW DLA SOPs and process manuals.
- Performs denial research and processing IAW DLA SOPs and process manuals.
- Provides research, assistance and/or guidance to customers throughout the supply chain.
- Orders, receives, inspects, inventories, loads, unloads, segregates, stores, issues, delivers and turns-in supplies and equipment as needed.
- Prepares all supply documents.
- Input customer requisition requests in DSS.
- Process all pick/pack/stow/receipt of material IAW DLA SOPs and process manuals.
- Maintains automated supply system for accounting.
- Maintains voucher register for Found on Installation Item.
- Performs cyclic and/or special inventories and investigates discrepancies.
- Receives, issues, stores, safeguards, inventories, ships and disposes of sensitive items.
- Prepares material for shipment IAW packaging instructions.
- Ensures material is stored in a ready to issue state at all times.
- Utilizes tools, equipment, and vehicles in the performance of tasks.
- Reviews inventory in-transit paid transactions from finance and accounting and takes corrective action to include processing of receipt documentation.
- Administers the cross-leveling, replenishment, and redistribution of excess property as it relates to local, depot, and other supply activities.
- Reviews stock levels and adjusts based on demand and known requirements.
- Informs item managers of problems, issues, and actions to achieve resolution.
- Performs research on customer requisitions and inquiries to determine serviceability of mission stock by reviewing data in applicable publications.
- Prepares monthly and quarterly supply and financial reports per contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Reviews automated error listings and posts corrections to supply transactions.
- Determines method and location of storage considering temperature, humidity, height and weight, turnover, floor loading capacities, and required space.
- Inspects completed work for accuracy and compliance with established procedures.
- Coordinates with DLA-DS Transportation as needed to validate shipments and customer.

- This position supports the DOD on a federal installation and the candidate must be available to work at the assigned physical location during business hours.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Other duties as assigned/approved by management.
- Must have two years of experience in the military supply field with one year of experience working at the retail supply level in a supply support activity.
- Must have one year experience with and be proficient in operating the Distribution Standard System, Global Combat Service Support System-Army or equivalent Logistics Information System in preparing supply documents, adjustments and reports.
- Practical knowledge of a wide range of established property and supply management policies and processes, and to apply a variety of common methods and techniques to analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of these various property and supply programs, identify needed remedies or improvements, and recommend solutions.
- Skilled in effective oral and written communication to comprehend and explain regulations, provide program information to management and customers, and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the organization's supply operation.
- Perform Lead duties daily.

- EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Essential : - High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of related experience.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
- Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English.
- Must be adaptable, flexible, and able to adjust to new or changing instructions.
- Must be able to multitask and complete assignments accurately and on time.
- Must have a Forklift certification.
- Must be able to perform all the tasks not exclusive of those described in the job description.
- Must have the ability to multitask and demonstrate attention to detail.
- Must be reliable, responsible, and able to fulfill obligations.
- Must be skilled in problem resolution, material handling equipment and hand truck operation.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, comprehend and explain instructions, letters, memos, emails, and correspondence from inside the organization as well as from external sources. Ability to effectively respond, communicate and present information to customers, internal and external, clients and other employees in the organization. Ability to interpret instructions and information and explain to others in the performance of this job in English.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Required to walk, stand, sit and move about the property for long periods of time. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling material. Working at elevated heights. Must possess visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels and on the telephone. Wearing of safety equipment (PPE) Personal Protective Equipment is required during all periods of exposure to hazardous conditions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/HOURS: This position is not eligible for remote work, as the essential functions of the role require the employee to perform duties on-site. May be exposed to inclement/extreme weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment may vary from moderate to high, depending on location. Job will require working flexible hours, sometimes under short notice, to accommodate for mission requirements to include weekends and holidays. Overtime may be required.
