Direct Lending Underwriter - Military veterans preferred

Liberty FCU, a full-service credit union, is currently seeking a Direct Lending Underwriter to join the LFCU lending team. The candidate must be detail oriented and have the ability to underwrite and determine the credit worthiness of loan applicants per credit union lending guidelines. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Serve as an underwriter on consumer loan requests
  • Review and decision loan applications that are originated by branch and lending call center loan officers/processors in a timely manner
  • Evaluate the risk level of loan requests and determine creditworthiness
  • Verify income calculations, debt ratios and vehicle valuations
  • Look for lending cross-sell opportunities from other financial institutions in credit bureau reports and make recommendations to help lenders move loans to the credit union
  • Review existing credit limits to determine appropriate limits as needed
  • Be professional, courteous, and motivated to assist lenders in determining the best course of action to assist members with their financing needs
• Be knowledgeable and understand all loan types, lending policies and procedures in order to maintain minimal risk to the credit union
• Review and approve loan modifications
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality and security when dealing with member and confidential information
• Maintain an understanding of the CU Student Choice lending program to assist with student loan questions
• Serve on the Saturday schedule rotation as necessitated by management
• Maintain a working knowledge of the Five9 phone system, Microsoft Word, Excel, and the credit union's core processing system
• Develop an understanding of credit union philosophy, organization, bylaws, and operational procedures
• Any other duties assigned by my supervisor or management
