Position Description
Job purpose
The Concrete Finisher will smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete, such as floors, driveways, patios, sidewalks, roads, or curbs using a variety of hand and power tools. Align forms for sidewalks, curbs, or gutters; patch voids; and use saws to cut expansion joints.
Duties and responsibilities
Set the forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth and align them.
Check the forms that hold the concrete to see that they are properly constructed.
Spread, level, and smooth concrete using a rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float.
Mold expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge
Cut out damaged areas, drill holes for reinforcing rods, and position reinforcing rods to repair concrete, using a power saw and drill
Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete, and move chute to direct concrete on forms
Monitor the weather conditions (wind, heat, cold) and how the conditions may affect the curing of the concrete
All other duties as assigned, delegated, or necessary for operations
Position Requirements
Qualifications
Concrete finishing experience preferred
A valid Driver’s License is required
Ability to pass a pre-employment urine drug test and comply with drug and alcohol policies during employment
Working conditions
Outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures
Occasional exposures to fumes, dust, odors, heights, and loud noises
Will work nights and weekends as necessary
May be required to work 50+ hours, 6 days a week
Physical requirements
Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner.
Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments.
Standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment.
Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.
Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching.
Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 75 pounds
