Requirements:

The Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for supporting the business on any international transaction or potential import/export commercial opportunity.  The ideal candidate will bring import/export or customs brokerage experience, astute attention to detail, exceptional ability to multi-task, self-motivation and problem-solving skills, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Primary Duties:

Assist in monitoring transactions for potential violations against US Government Policy: Denied party screening, Item Export/Import Classification, Embargoed countries

Collaborate with business and external resources to classify material for import or export in accordance with US customs regulations, including section 301 and Anti-Dumping and Counter-veiling Duties.

Work to eliminate customs hold due to material classifications being incomplete.  Work with internal teams proactively to avoid clearance delays.

Assist in accurate and complete document preparation for international shipments, ensuring documents are stored and retained as required.

Conduct Free Trade and GSP program monitoring and documentation support.  

Proactively communicate trade issues and the effects on the supply chain.  Constantly collect and review trade data and news to be on the forefront of issues.

Attend  monthly and quarterly reviews with 3rd Party Providers (Brokerage and Classification services)

Ensure accurate data management of HTS, Schedule B, EAR, and standard duty rates within the ERP.   Communicate to the field when changes to the HTS may impact duty rates.

Review and approve/dispute sub-supplier tariff charges 

Qualifications:

Proven, Effective Communication Skills

Efficient use of a PC, including superior skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and the ability to effectively communicate via email, telephone and web-based presentations. 

Self-Management required.   Manages time and resources and balances competing demands to ensure work is completed. Monitors priorities and requests resources appropriately when confronted with changing demands. Demonstrates a positive outlook and remains calm and in control in stressful situations.

Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills required.  Ability to partner with commodity leaders, sourcing specialists, profitability managers, and commercial leaders to effectively communicate trends and recommendations.

Strong problem-solving skills required.  Uses logic and analytical methods to identify solutions resulting in effective problem resolution. Asks effective questions to gather information and data to clarify the details of the problem. Analyzes data, understands patterns and translates into meaningful information. Explores options and utilizes available information to recommend workable solutions. 

Strong ability to multi-task is needed to successfully navigate the role

Strong attention to detail and strict adherence to set trade policies and procedures is required

Experience in Trade Compliance / Supply Chain / or International Procurement field preferred

Experience with QAD, JobBoss and WMS helpful 

Associate’s degree  or comparable work experience
