Position Description
The Plant Technician is a true “Jack or Jill of all trades”. We are looking for someone motivated, a self-starter, resourceful, and mechanically inclined. This position will assist in the troubleshooting and diagnosis of production problems of asphalt, concrete, and aggregate handling equipment. We are willing to train the right candidate. This is a yearly seasonal position that runs approximately from April through November. The employee is eligible for unemployment while seasonally laid-off and is considered job-attached.
Duties and responsibilities
Assist with troubleshooting and diagnosis of electro-mechanical systems
Assist with troubleshooting and diagnosis of open-fire boiler and burner systems
Assist with repairs of hydraulic equipment
Assist with pneumatic system repairs
Ability to learn process controls (E-Z blending systems, RexCon systems)
Assist with conveyor system repairs and set up
Ability to travel (work within North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Arizona)
Provide backup for plant operator when needed (willing to train)
All other duties as assigned, delegated, or necessary for operations
Position Requirements
Qualifications
Possess a valid driver’s license
Welding experience helpful, but not required
Asphalt plant experience helpful, but not required
Aggregate materials handling experience helpful, but not required
Ability to pass a pre-employment urine drug test and comply with drug and alcohol policies during employment
Working conditions
Indoor/outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures
Occasional exposures to fumes, dust, odors, heights, and loud noises
Physical requirements
Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner
Working at heights up to 50 feet on occasion
Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments
Standing, walking or sitting for extended periods of time
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment
Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally
Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching
Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 75 pounds
