Essential Functions
These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
- Processes paperwork for all supply requisitions, direct payments, P-Card transactions and reconciliations, speaker agreements, and travel reimbursements, as needed by the Department of English, as well as the Stokes Center for Creative Writing, the Composition Program, the Center for the Study of War and Memory, and the African-American Studies Program, all of which operate out of the English Department office.
- Manages the English department accounts, balancing funds on a monthly basis and providing financial reports for the Department Chair and other directors for all English department entities.
- Offers support to faculty members who receive grants.
- Oversees the maintenance of a variety of complex accounting ledgers.
- Prepares a variety of complex accounting reports, statements, and tabulations.
- Balances and reconciles assigned accounts.
- Independently conducts analyses and reconciliations not requiring the judgment and finality of decision of a professional accountant.
- Supplies data on account balances and spending for the English Department Chair, the Director of Composition, the Director of African-American Studies.
- Consults with the Department Chair on budgetary planning.
- Handles paperwork for yearly scholarships for the Department of English and the Stokes Center for Creative Writing.
- Providing overrides and assistance as needed for students during enrollment sessions.
- Welcomes and assists visitors to the Department of English to include students, faculty, and members of the community.
- Handles Guest Speaker Agreements and makes arrangements for visitor events; prepares travel reimbursements for part-time instructors and students, as needed.
- Orders general supplies and prepares work orders for maintenance of office equipment.
- Assists the Department Chair and the Director of Composition with clerical tasks as needed.
- Regular and prompt attendance.
- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
- Related duties as required.
