Overview
As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for engineering matters related to scoping, proposing, implementing and support of automation equipment for the production floor. Automation Engineering projects include industrial robotic arms, PLC’s, SCADA, industrial networking and industrial vision. You will collaborate with colleagues in other engineering functions as well as in roles such as operations, quality, purchasing, planning, finance, and maintenance. You will be working on projects that result in a safer work environment, a higher quality product, and a more efficient process.
Responsibilities
Examines equipment, processes, operations, and procedures to identify improvement opportunities in areas of safety, quality, throughput, and cost using Automation Technologies
Develop project scopes, create Request-for-Quotes and evaluate vendor proposals for new equipment purchases or equipment modifications
Overseeing, leading, programming or troubleshooting new automation equipment during implementation, installation and startup
Programming Dashboards and Data collection from plant-floor devices
Partake in Project teams as a Team Member and individual contributor
Support production with day-to-day issues
Qualifications
Associates Degree plus 2-4 years engineering project experience in an Automation and Controls environment required. Â Bachelors degree in Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or Computer Science or combined related experience preferred
Proven leadership experience in Project Management particularly in implementing automation and controls systems
Desired experience programming and troubleshooting using:
Ladder logic with Allen Bradley core competency with Siemens exposure
Industrial robotic arms
Guarding and safety experience
SCADA software such as Inductive Automation Ignition
Industrial Ethernet/IP networking
Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server Management Studio
Hands-on experience with Python, C++, or Java a plus
AutoCAD for generating hardware schematics
Experience in Lean manufacturing techniques, capability studies, process mapping, FMEA, and root cause analysis preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with other members of a project team effectively using strong problem-solving, analytical skills and creative thinking
Must be able to manage multiple tasks
