EPRI is seeking an energetic and experienced individual to lead our wildfire mitigation research and engage industry stakeholders. This person will manage projects, develop new business opportunities, and advance the state of the art in wildfire research. This role requires strong technical, communication, and project management skills to conduct research to advance the safety and reliability of electric distribution systems. To be successful in this role, the candidate needs passion for the technical topic and a strong reputation in the wildfire community.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements:
Project Management:
Lead and manage distribution wildfire mitigation research projects from inception to completion.
Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, research project managers, and environmental specialists.
Monitor project progress, identify internal and external resources to support project completions, and provide updates to internal and external stakeholders.
New Business Development:
Identify and pursue new business opportunities related to wildfire mitigation.
Develop proposals and presentations for potential clients and stakeholders.
Build and maintain relationships with key industry partners and clients.
Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies in wildfire mitigation.
Research and Analysis:
Lead wildfire mitigation research activities to advance the state of the art.
Conduct research on best practices and innovative solutions for wildfire mitigation.
Analyze data and generate reports to support decision-making and project planning.
Stay updated on the latest research and developments in wildfire science and mitigation techniques.
Collaborate with academic and research institutions to advance knowledge in the field
Stakeholder Engagement:
Engage with industry stakeholders to promote and implement research findings.
Organize and participate in industry conferences, workshops, and seminars.
Foster partnerships with industry leaders, regulatory bodies, and research organizations.
Additional Requirements:
Strong project management skills with experience in leading complex projects.
Knowledge of the electric T&D systems, components, and operations as it relates to wildfire mitigation
Excellent communication and presentation skills for business development and stakeholder engagement.
Technical proficiency in wildfire risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
Ability to analyze and interpret data, with strong research skills.
Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards in the electric utility industry.
Proficiency in using advanced technologies, such as remote sensing.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Has developed relationships with primary advisors to a research area
Provides assistance to the EPRI sales staff in Member Services and EPRI International
Communicate work across EPRI programs to make sure parallel work is informed
May provide oversight of a project team to assure technical and financial milestones are met
Develops research or services opportunities of value to EPRI members that fit EPRI’s mission and capabilities. This will include solving customer problems, producing insights and information vital to the members, and delivering information in a manner that members and customers can and will apply
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff
Education & Years of experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience required
8+ years of professional experience required
