Description: The Mechanical Piping General Foreman is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of mechanical piping and equipment installation projects. This role involves the coordination of project activities, ensuring that all project goals are met in accordance with established standards and within the allocated budget and timeline. The General foreman will also play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and productive work environment, fostering teamwork, and facilitating communication between different departments. He will report to the site superintendent but in some cases be the lead supervisor on the assignment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all aspects of mechanical projects
- Coordinate project activities to ensure alignment with project goals
- Ensure that projects meet established standards and are completed within the allocated budget and timeline
- Maintain a safe and productive work environment
- Foster teamwork and facilitate communication between different departments
- Preplan crew activities ensuring everything is prepared and ready to start.
Required Skills/Abilities: - Strong understanding of heavy commercial/light industrial piping installations of mechanical systems as well as equipment layout and setting.
- Experience with boilers - steam and condensate systems a major plus.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings and creating workable isos for field use.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to oversee and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to manage subcontractor(s) (usually insulation/painting or similar)
- Effective leadership and team management capabilities
- Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to train and mentor junior staff
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Education/Experience: - Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Several years of experience in piping installation
- Proven experience in leadership or supervisory role
- Proficiency in understanding and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Travel Requirements: - 100% travel - Project based position
- Ability to travel occasionally to attend meetings, trainings, and events.
Physical Requirements: - Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to use a computer, phone, tablet, printer, scanner, and other office equipment.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds of files, documents, and materials.
