Overview

This Director of Enviornmental, Health and Safety will play a pivotal role in leading the organziation toward World Class Safety.  Reporting to the VP of Operation, the Director of EHS&S will be responsbile for overseeing and improving the safety programs and policies within North American Operations to ensure a safe working environment.



Responsibilities

  • Lead the organization to achieve world-class excellence in safety for our Ripon, WI and Manitowoc, WI campuses.
  • Foster a proactive safety culture by engaging employees at all levels of the organization in safety initiatives. Collaborate with leaders to integrate safety management into their operational practices.
  • Develop and implement safety strategies, procedures, and policies based on organizational needs.
  • Establish metrics to evaluate safety performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure monthly reporting of safety and health metrics by leaders and develop action plans to improve facility performance.
  • Analyze safety data to identify trends and produce reports for management, and utilize this data to advise on strategic safety improvements.
  • Lead safety incident analysis, ensure root cause investigations are conducted, and oversee the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Promote safety education and awareness across all levels of the organization.
  • Develop and execute safety training programs to ensure employees understand and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Lead and develop Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) professionals within the organization.
  • Conduct risk assessments on current practices, machinery, and tools, and analyze accident data to identify potential safety concerns, taking action to reduce or mitigate the risk.
  • Enforce, develop, and implement comprehensive environmental strategies and policies that align with sustainability goals. Identify opportunities for reducing waste, emissions, and energy consumption.
  • Lead initiatives to promote recycling, conservation, and sustainable resource management within the manufacturing processes. Promote awareness and education on environmental issues among employees.


Qualifications



Knowledge/Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in safety management
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a leadership role.
  • Minimum 5 years OSHA compliance experience, with strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and standards
  • CSP certification preferred

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong combination of strategic thinking and tactical implementation skills; must be a leader and effective motivator of people.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with all levels of the organization to achieve goals.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with confidential and sensitive data.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Master’s Degree is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Position involves sitting long periods, standing, manual dexterity, stooping, bending and minimal lifting.
