Position Summary:
The Director of Student Health and Wellness, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) provides high-quality, evidence-based primary health care to students. The APRN works independently and collaboratively within the healthcare team to promote wellness, prevent illness, and manage acute and chronic conditions in a university population.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments, including physical exams, patient histories, and evaluations.
- Diagnose and treat common acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Prescribe medications and other treatments in accordance with state laws and scope of practice.
- Provide health counseling, education, and promotion tailored to the college population.
- Collaborate with campus departments to support student wellness initiatives.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Participate in the development and implementation of campus health policies and procedures.
- Respond to health emergencies and assist with campus-wide emergency planning.
- Refer patients to off-campus specialists or emergency services as needed.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: • Knowledge of FERPA and HIPAA regulations.
General Days/Hours: Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications: Required:
• Master of Science in nursing from an accredited program.
• Current and unrestricted APRN license in the state of Arkansas
• National board certification as an NP (e.g., FNP, ANP).
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as an APRN, preferably in a primary care or college health setting.
• DEA registration and authority to prescribe medications.
Preferred:
• Experience in college health, adolescent/young adult health, or public health.
• Ability to prescribe without the need for a Coordinating Physician or access to a Coordinating Physician willing to partner with Henderson State University
• Knowledge of FERPA and HIPAA regulations.
