Teach African American history survey courses (HIST 114: African American History to 1865 and HIST 115: African American History since 1865). The standard teaching load is 4 classes/12 credit hours per semester. In addition, the candidate is expected to perform advisement and programmatic duties and scholarly work that adds to the growth and maintenance of the department and its students.
Interested and qualified applicants should submit a copy of a curriculum vitae/résumé, cover letter, letter of interest and teaching philosophy, unofficial transcript(s) (official transcripts will be required of the successful candidate), along with an application, and at least three (3) letters of reference.
Conditions of Employment
Offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of due diligence background check and verification of credentials. Proof of US citizenship or eligibility for U.S. employment will be required prior to employment (Immigration Control Act of 1986).

Experience
Teaching experience in African American history (or related topic) is preferred. Experience integrating technology into the teaching process.
Education
A Ph.D. in History (focus on African American history or related discipline).
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Effective communication skills are essential as well as the ability and commitment to educate diverse college students. Must have a strong ability and commitment to embrace innovative teaching and technology applications in the classroom.

The ability to work with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
