• Monitor financial activities of and provide accounting support for the University’s restricted funds, including financial aid,
• Assist in the development of budgets for grant and contract funded programs.
• Assist in the development and implementation of the daily financial operational procedures for restricted fund activity.
• Ensure the timely receipt of grant and contract related reimbursements to the university.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of the university’s indirect cost reimbursement rate.
• Prepare sponsor agency financial reports and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Assist in development and delivery of periodic training for principle investigators.
• Analyze financial records (Oracle) at least on a monthly basis for compilation of billing and cash draw-down requirements.
• Ensures appropriate procedures are followed timely for closing grants and contracts as required.
• Ensures compliance with all reporting and audit requirements relating to grants and contracts, including maintaining proper supporting documentation.
• Advises Grants Manager of possible problems concerning grants and contracts.
• Other related duties, as assigned.
Education
Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field required.
Experience
Three (3) years of experience in accounting preferred.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
• Thorough knowledge of contract and grant accounting regulations, including OMB Circulars.
• Thorough knowledge of principles and practice of fund accounting.
• Strong knowledge of automated systems; preferably PeopleSoft Financials.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to interact with different levels of management.
• Proficient in use of computer spreadsheets and word-processing.
• Ability to develop and make effective presentations required.
