The PSU Center for Student Health and Counseling (SHAC) is a nationally accredited healthcare facility that offers medical, counseling, dental, health promotion and education to the students of Portland State University. The center consists of over 100 clinical and administrative staff, and there are currently 20,000 students eligible to use SHAC services.

SHAC Dental Services is staffed by experienced licensed dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants. We provide comprehensive dental health services to eligible students at PSU, including routine teeth cleanings and exams, digital x-rays, fillings (both amalgam and composite), bleaching trays, extractions, simple root canals, crowns, veneers, dentures, partials, and night guards. The dental clinic is open Tuesday-Friday (some Saturdays) 8am-5pm.
Position Summary
This position is an on call wage agreement contract. This position requires a dentist proficient in examination, diagnosis, and treatment planning. Dentists will provide treatment, care and prevention of conditions within the oral cavity and maxillofacial region and conditions of adjacent or related tissues and structures.


Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited dental school with a DDS or DMD degree.

- Current dental knowledge that is continually updated.

- Advanced clinical skills.

- Interpersonal skills, problem solving, decision making skills, discretion, independent judgment and action.

- Ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse student population.

- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

- Knowledge base of healthy behaviors and behavior change theories.

- Presentation and teaching skills.

Work Days/HoursThis position is on call and days will vary based on clinic needs.Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement
The starting hourly salary rate for this position is between $70-80/hour, depending on knowledge, experience, skills and abilities. This is an on call, non-benefits eligible position.
