Description:
Aleut Federal LLC is seeking a junior-level Geologist/Environmental Scientist to join our team in Oak Ridge, TN, serving federal clients. Typical duties involve performing site investigations, logging boreholes, installing monitoring wells, and sampling (e.g., low-flow groundwater, surface water, sediment, soil, subsurface vapor, air). Along with fieldwork, this position requires supporting the in-office project teams. Work may include preparing tables and maps, evaluating chemical and geological data, and collaborating with staff to make recommendations and prepare memoranda, reports, and proposals.
Your Role:
This position will have field and office responsibilities. Extended travel may be required (up to 80%).
•The physical demands of this position require the ability to perform field work, includinglifting (up to 50 pounds) and maneuvering of equipment and filling sample coolers in a rangeof weather conditions
•Typical tasks will include field work planning and preparation, drilling and monitoring wellinstallation oversight, logging boreholes, and preparing reports including text, tables, andfigures
•Other duties may be assigned as determined appropriate by the supervisor based on levelof experience
Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in geology, geoscience, environmental science, or relatedenvironmental science field
•Minimum of 2–5 years of professional environmental consulting experience. Projectexperience to include carrying out Phase I ESAs (ASTM-compliant), Phase II SiteInvestigations, vapor intrusion assessments, and RCRA and CERCLA investigations
•Ideal candidates will have a working knowledge of the MS Office Suite and experiencepreparing technical reports, memos, response-to-comments tables, and diagrams
•Must be a competent technical writer
•Effective time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
•U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass a background screening
•Valid state driver’s license
•Attention to detail is required. The successful candidate must be able to observe, evaluate,and document site field conditions and communicate changes in field conditions to seniorstaff
•Ability to analyze chemistry and environmental data
•Ability to interface with clients, subcontractors, working groups, and internal customers
•The successful candidate will work as a problem solver, will have an interest and ability towork in a collaborative manner, and will have the flexibility to adapt to changing situations
•Ability to work extended hours, as required
•Recent college graduates must demonstrate course work applicable to these jobrequirements by providing transcripts
Preferred Qualifications:
•OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Training
•Working knowledge of the conceptual site model process
•Postgraduate or additional degrees
