Position Summary:

The College of Agriculture at Arkansas State University (A-State) invites outstanding candidates to apply for a non-tenure-track Instructor position in Food Science beginning July 1, 2025. . This is a two-year grant funded position and focuses on teaching and outreach/recruitment of students into the program. Position will involve teaching undergraduate level courses in Food Science (50% effort) and outreach/recruitment (50% effort).

The position is 12-month renewable contract. Each member of the faculty has the duty to deliver instruction and maintain a learning environment consistent with the highest standards of the profession.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Teaching assigned courses within the Food Science
  • Guide students through applied and experiential learning experiences
  • Develop new courses, curriculum, instructional materials, and evaluation tools at the undergraduate level
  • Participate actively in outreach/recruitment for the program, and be involved in some service
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position will report to the Associate Dean and works cooperatively with faculty in our state-of-the-art meat facility.

Ability to motivate and support students.

General Days/Hours:

Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance is expected
Some travel will be required

Minimum Qualifications:

An earned Master's degree and/or extensive experience in food science

Preferred Qualifications:
Prior postsecondary teaching experience
