RS&H is seeking a Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Practice in our Timonium, MD or Vienna, VA office!

The selected candidate will have a client facing role with part-time on-site client activities. This is a fantastic opportunity for a mid-level engineer to growth their career while having direct interactions with clients and local projects. The team follows a flexible hybrid work model with 2-3 days in-person at the office.

Essential Functions:

• Candidate has general knowledge of general policies and implementation of Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plans and Work Zone Traffic Control Plans.
• Provides general support to the Traffic Engineering Team by conducting various studies and developing solutions for addressing safety, traffic congestion and multimodal transportation needs.
• Candidate will support general program management activities at the client site.
• Candidate will assist with review of MOT and work zone policy in addition to quality control and peer review activities.
• Prepares documentation and technical reports for traffic engineering studies.
• Performs as-needed field reviews and observation for evaluating field conditions and assessing typical traffic operations and safety conditions.
• Knowledgeable of applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and practices that are pertinent to respective discipline.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Maryland Professional Engineering (PE) registration or the ability to obtain their PE within 6 months of hire.
• Minimum 5 years of experience.
• Must possess basic knowledge of production software.
• Must possess solid oral and written communications skills.
• Must have the ability to effectively interact with and build relationships with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

• PTOE preferred but not required.
• Experience in the field of MOT and Work Zone Traffic Control.
• Experience with traffic analysis software, such as HCS, Synchro, and VISSIM.
• Experience with GIS.
• Prior experience with Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) is preferred but not required.

Hiring Salary Range: ($91,770 - $146,855) — for this location only. The final agreed upon compensation is commensurate with experience relative to the position and/or primary work location.
