What We Are Looking For:? 

As an Intern on the Transmission Planning & Interconnection team in our St. Paul, MN, Office, you will play a pivotal role in supporting projects, studies, and analysis with a mix of project work for the Transmission Planning & Interconnection team. Transmission Planning & Interconnection focus includes electrical utility transmission planning and studies; generation interconnection studies, modeling, and conceptual design; and utility-scale renewable energy resource-focused design and analysis.

What You Will Be Doing:?

  • Assist with electrical utility planning studies by analyzing historical data to prepare future projections.
  • Perform electrical system modeling analysis utilizing engineering analysis software.
  • Prepare and assist in cost estimates for power delivery planning and design projects.
  • Assist with planning study report preparation, including Word documents, spreadsheets, tables, graphs, etc.
  • Work with various computer applications including PSS/E, PSCAD, Aspen One-liner, AutoCAD, MS Excel, PowerBI, MS Word, ESRI, Milsoft Windmil, and others.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet client expectations.
  • May assist with completing the environmental review process for electrical utility projects.
  • May assist with ESRI data analysis and creation of new layers to visualize results.

 

What You Will Need:? 

Education and Experience 

  • Associate degree or pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in applied sciences, engineering, or technology-related.
  • Knowledge of electrical utility systems, line design, and surveying practices is a plus.

 

Knowledge and Skills  

  • Working knowledge of computer software tools, including MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Ability to become familiar with planning system studies & modeling.
  • Use effective communication skills (both written and oral), be customer-driven, and display teamwork behavior.
  • Ability to work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive and self-motivated.

Compensation:? 

  • Hourly Range: $29 - $31 hourly.?

This salary range reflects the anticipated base salary for pursuing a bachelor’s degree from freshman to junior year. The successful candidate will be placed at a level commensurate with the candidate's relevant years of experience, education, and technical expertise.
