Summer internship in the Triumph – Manufacturing Engineer Intern, Repair and Overhaul 

 

Triumph Actuation Systems – Yakima is seeking candidates for a Manufacturing Engineer Internship in our Yakima, WA location. This internship will provide a college-level student with practical experience related to his or her major in mechanical/manufacturing engineering that will enhance and complement their classroom learning.

 

Summary
Responsible for the creation, development, and enhancement of manufacturing processes used in the production of aerospace hydraulic actuators and their components.  
In this role, you will be required to interpret design drawings and specifications, develop production planning, and support manufacturing processes. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
•    Develops written manufacturing planning, sketches, and other work instructions in accordance with appropriate drawings and specifications to support site production.
•    Use of CAD systems to create fixturing, tooling, and manufacturing models to support creation and development of manufacturing/machining processes.
•    Works closely with production operators, supervisors, and other functional teams to continually improve product flow and quality.
•    Initiates, evaluates, and implements process improvements.
•    Understanding of manufacturing capacity and capabilities planning.
•    Evaluates and develops manufacturing processes by:

  • designing and conducting research programs
  • applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials
  • conferring with equipment vendors
  • soliciting observations from operators

•    Designs and develops tools (physical and analytical) to assist and improve production processes.
•    Assures product and process quality.
•    Provides production support by answering questions and requests.
•    Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
•    Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
•    Contributes to team effort by accomplishing objectives laid out through site-wide initiatives.
•    Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience                               
•    Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related field; OR
•    Associates degree in an engineering field with 3+ years’ experience. 
•   Must provide steel toed/safety shoes - Company reimbursement available.

 

Key Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
•    Precision measuring tools, gauges, and other inspection devices.
•    Part drawings/blueprints, dimensioning, and tolerancing including GD&T.
•    Aerospace industry specifications.
•    Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and waste reduction concepts.
•    General knowledge of metallurgical properties including heat treating various types of metals.

 

Pay Range:  Hiring range and position pay range may differ, commensurate with education level, qualifications and experience.

 

Degree Level:
Bachelor - 1st Year of Study:  $18.16 - $22.71/Hour
Bachelor - 2nd Year of Study:  $20.49 - $25.61/Hour
Bachelor - 3rd Year of Study:  $21.06 - $26.33/Hour
Bachelor - 4th Year of Study:  $21.82 - $27.27/Hour
Masters:  $26.72 - $33.41/Hour
