Summary/Objective:

The Sr. Electrical Estimator is responsible for estimating the cost, time, materials, labor, and equipment for construction projects, as well as perform cost analyses, determine the duration of a project, procure pricing from vendors and subcontractors, and ensure that resources are managed, and deadlines are met.  This position requires no direct supervision.

Essential Functions:

  1. Determines the total cost of materials, equipment, utilities, and labor for construction projects.
  2. Research construction documents and analyze specifications.
  3. Reviews RFPs/design docs and prepares RFIs as needed.
  4. Prepares estimates to meet project goals, such as setting work hours, sequencing tasks, obtaining materials, and securing the best deals with vendors and subcontractors. 
  5. Manages pre-qualifications and pre-bid submissions.
  1. Creates the project BOM for the estimate and submits it for pricing.
  2. Updates the estimating tracker daily.
  3. Ensures that relevant documents and budgets are submitted before a bid deadline.
  4. Formulates contingency plans and effectively manages risks that might impact cost and time estimates.
  5. Keeps up to date with the latest estimating technology and industry-related trends.
  6. Collaborates with other teams and conducts site visits as needed.
  7. Attends estimate review meetings.
  8. Assists with project management tasks as needed.
  9. Maintains an elevated level of professionalism with clients, vendors, and colleagues; works to establish a positive working relationship.
  10. Provides timely and completed documentation of work performed.
  11. Operates vehicles and other equipment safely; adheres to safety protocols; reports hazards and risks; behavior contributes to a safe and secure working environment.

Required Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelors degree and/or equivalent education and experience
  2. 7+ years of estimating experience

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Applied Science or Architecture or equivalent work experience
  2. 7+ years of Electrical, Mechanical, or Infrastructure estimating experience
  3. Commercial general contractor/construction experience
  4. PMP Certification
