Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is one of the largest privately held architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast.

GMC has an opening for Construction Inspector -- Water/Wastewater to support ongoing projects in the Greenville, SC office.  The Construction Inspector will build on field experience to make significant contriutions to the team efforts for the benefit of the client.

Responsibilities:

  • Review pay requests, submittals, field tests and other contract documents related to construction
  • Conduct on-site observations of contractor's work to assist in determining if the work is proceeding in accordance with contract documents
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and awareness of plans and specifications, as well as the General Conditions of contracts
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of regulatory requirements from different local, regional, state and federal agencies
  • Attend construction progress meetings
  • Produce clear and concise records and daily reports in accordance with company procedures
  • Serve as engineer's liaison with contractor
  • Assist with coordination of work with professional engineers, surveyors, technicians, environmental personnel, city code enforcement officials and construction crews
  • Respond to common inquiries from contractors, surveyors, survey field personnel, city code enforcement or regulatory agencies 

Common Project Types:

Water Mains, Booster Pump Stations, Gravity Sewer Mains, Sewer Lift Stations, Force Mains, Water Treatment Plants, Wastewater Treatment Plants, Hydraulic Modeling, and Master Planning.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of construction inspection experience on water/wastewater projects
  • High School Diploma

Work Environment:

Field (90%) And Office (10%) 

  • This position requires work to be performed in an office environment and in the field. Work done in the field may consist of exposure to various types of weather and temperatures.   Engineers may also be exposed to pollutants, chemicals, insects, and possibly water-borne pathogens.  Employees are required to wear appropriate protective clothing and gear when performing field work.
  • Ability to work outside and on job sites and rights-of-way of varying topography and condition

Travel

  • Construction Representatives will be expected to travel to various work sites to perform field work
  • Company cars and/or rental vehicles shall be utilized to travel between work sites
