Job Summary
The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) serves as the State’s principal agency for economic growth. The NJEDA drives inclusive and sustainable economic development by helping to build strong and dynamic communities, creating good jobs for New Jersey residents, providing pathways to a stronger and fairer economy, and implementing initiatives to strengthen New Jersey’s long-term economic competitiveness.
The Chief of Staff division oversees the following departments: Communications, Events & Marketing, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Economics and Data Analytics, Policy, Research, and Government Affairs, and International Innovation. The division streamlines communication across all the other divisions to promote transparency and efficiency within the Authority. The Chief of Staff intern will work alongside the Policy, Research, and Government Affairs and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) departments to support a variety of initiatives and priorities projects that advance the goals of the Authority.
The Policy, Research, and Government Affairs department acts as a liaison to legislative district offices to represent and convey NJEDA’s position on legislation and policy. The team facilitates communication between the Authority and the New Jersey State Assembly and Senate and is responsible for tracking and monitoring legislation with direct and indirect impact on the Authority.
The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) department leads strategic initiatives to promote a culture of inclusion and foster a diverse, engaged workforce both internally and externally. The department also oversees Employee Network Groups (ENGs), which organize events, facilitate discussions, and champion initiatives that are exemplary of the Authority’s core values of diversity and equity.
In addition to supporting the day-to-day functions of the Chief of Staff’s office, the Chief of Staff intern will help draft comments and proposed revisions, as necessary, to bills and legislative initiatives that impact the NJEDA. The intern will also support the DEI team with core day-to-day tasks to help drive department goals. The intern may also assist other departments across the division as needed.
