Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is one of the largest privately held architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast.

GMC has an opening for Project Engineer to support on-going projects in our newly renovated office located in the heart of beautiful Savannah, GA. The position will work closely on the design, project management and client engagement for various engineering projects in the Coastal Georgia area.  Specific projects will include water / wastewater infrastructure and site civil design.

Essential functions and responsibilities include:

  • Applies extensive diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields, and proven ability to apply them. 
  • Independently evaluates, selects and adapts standard techniques, procedures and criteria.  
  • Designs a complete project, system component or process. 
  • Prepares complete project documents, including scopes, budgets and schedules. 
  • Analyzes and interprets data and formulates and solves problems.  
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, GIS, and Microsoft Office Suite, with demonstrated skill application in each program. 
  • Responsible for accuracy of technical aspects of projects. 
  • Solves complex and novel assignments requiring new or improved techniques or procedures
  • Incorporate complex design concepts into functional project based on the Project Manager’s design concept to that project team. 
  • Coordinate the work of assigned team members on multiple projects; assigns tasks to and directs engineers, technicians and administrative staff. 
  • Assist with the development of proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or programs.
  • Ability to function on multi-disciplinary teams. 
  • Works on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major project

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field 
  • Professional Engineer or Engineer in Training (EIT)

 Travel requirements: 

  • This position requires work to be performed in an office environment and in the field. Work done in the field may consist of exposure to various types of weather and temperatures. Engineers may also be exposed to pollutants, chemicals, insects, and possibly water-borne pathogens. Employees are required to wear appropriate protective clothing and gear when performing fieldwork.
  • Engineers will be expected to travel to various work sites to perform fieldwork. Company cars and/or rental vehicles shall be utilized to travel between work site

Other Requirements: 

  • Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignment
  • Responsible for enforcement of project delivery standards including technical, procedural and CAD
  • QA/QC 
    • Executes cross discipline checks and coordination. 
    • Reviews complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance. 
    • Recognizes and reports risk management issues to Project Manager as appropriate.
