Job Summary

The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) serves as the State’s principal agency for economic growth. The Economic Transformation Division’s mission is to accelerate the growth of New Jersey’s economy by implementing initiatives that enhance the State’s long-term economic competitiveness and establish New Jersey as an innovation leader within high job growth strategic industries, including life sciences, technology innovation, clean energy, and film and digital media. The division focuses on these priority industries and also provides cross-industry support through workforce training, venture, manufacturing, and tax credits & incentives teams.

The Economic Transformation Intern will work alongside the Economic Transformation team to support a variety of initiatives and priority projects that advance the goals of the Authority. Specifically, the Intern – Economic Transformation will provide support to all of the departments reporting to the Chief Economic Transformation Officer, which includes Innovation Impact, Clean Energy & Workforce Innovation Partnerships, Manufacturing, Incentives & Tax Credits, Film, and Life Sciences. The role will assist with operational efficiencies, marketing, memo writing, event planning, policy research, scheduling support, and the creation of projects and initiatives designed to promote NJEDA’s programs and products.

This is a paid remote internship.



Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists the Senior Business Officer – Economic Transformation in the drafting and preparation of briefing memos, talking points and other written materials for the Chief Economic Transformation Officer for use with external parties. Additionally, this role will assist with scheduling and event planning for the Chief Economic Transformation Officer, and priority division events.
  • Provides support to the Economic Transformation division, including but not limited to, assisting with the creation of marketing materials and one-pagers, conducting research and analysis for the division including assisting with KPIs, compiling and designing PowerPoint slides across all departments, assisting with events, assisting and developing operational efficiencies, and providing general administrative support for the division.
  • Promotes teamwork and communication to encourage an interactive, cooperative, collaborative and customer focused work environment among division, NJEDA staff and external customers.
  • Performs other duties and special projects, as assigned by the Senior Business Officer – Economic Transformation.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; proficient in grammar, spelling and editing; and foster communications with business professionals and EDA staff
  • Ability to prioritize workload, must be highly organized, detail-oriented, handle various tasks simultaneously and work independently within limited time constrains with little or no supervision
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and deal effectively and diplomatically with business professionals and EDA staff
  • Demonstrates respectful behavior and promotes teamwork and communication to encourage an interactive, cooperative, collaborative and customer focused work environment among division, EDA staff and external customers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new software packages

  • Current enrollment in an accredited Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree program, or a recent graduate.

Position Requirements
