Job Description Summary
Under the supervision of the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Promotion, this individual will coordinate the planning and execution of high-quality athletic competitions for the Bentley Athletic Department, which houses 23 intercollegiate athletic programs. Given the stature and nature of the events involved, and the interest in promoting the University and Athletic Department brand and reputation, this position will be held in the highest degree of excellence in terms of event execution, management, presentation, participant and patron safety, and compliance with the NCAA, AHA and NE10, and Bentley University. The Manager of Athletic Events and Marketing Promotions will also work closely with the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Promotions to promote and increase engagement around all athletic events.
Essential Duties
- Serve as the main point of contact for game operations and event management of all assigned home athletic events.
- Planning, coordinating, staffing, scheduling, budgeting, supervising, and directing all event activities and personnel engaged in managing events throughout the athletic department and work-study office.
- Oversee event parking & traffic coordination, event security coordination, credential planning and implementation, access control, and communication/coordination with the following: Athletic Facilities, Ticketing, Media Relations, Marketing, Audio/Video, Athletic Programs, campus departments, city officials, emergency services, police, and fire departments.
- Demonstrates customer service skills with the ability to communicate and interact effectively with all athletics constituents both on and off-campus and diverse groups of people.
- Handle difficult and complex customer problems and complaints both on-site during events, via telephone and email.
- Demonstrates ability to work well under pressure and meet time-sensitive projects.
- Ability to react to problems, conflicts, and issues.
- Weather can influence outdoor events, therefore, communication with a variety of resources to make the most appropriate decision based on the information available.
- On-site leadership and direction during events in response to medical and/or weather emergencies involving student-athletes, spectators and guests.
- Have oversight of all athletic facilities and field and are responsible the upkeep and equipment associated with those facilities.

Other Duties
- Coordinate and collaborate with ticketing director on promotional opportunities and assistance as needed to market our distribution, promotion and selling of tickets.
- Knowledge in graphic design and social media including creating graphics, managing large social media initiatives including Holiday posts, celebration months and long-term University promotions.
- Help create marketing plans for fall and spring semesters including highlighting promotional opportunities at all major sporting events. Responsible for coordinating the plan to give every home sport a chance to host a big promotional game during their championship season. This includes meeting with teams & coaches prior to season to plan out their big games & initiatives.
- Work with coaches and teams on promoting athlete attendance/presence at our games.
- Create and implement initiatives and programs designed to improve attendance at all athletic contests.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience or training.
- Knowledge of NCAA, NE10, and AHA rules and regulations.
- Considerable organizational and supervisory skills are required.
- Ability to work long, irregular hours as dictated by events schedule.
- Event management and/or facility operations experience in the college sports or recreation industry preferred.
- Strong written and verbal skills with the ability to work with time-sensitive projects.
- Ability to foster and maintain working relationships with other departments in the University and the community.
- Familiarity with software programs including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced environment, evening and weekend hours as related to the event schedule.
- Depending on the program/event, physical involvement in the setup of furniture or equipment may be necessary.
- Ability to work in an open flexible office space that requires frequent interruption and movement throughout the building.
- The position requires the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to regularly perform a variety of physical tasks that may include but are not limited to climbing, bending, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and/or crawling. Reasonable accommodation will be made as needed.
- Physical strength, including the ability and willingness to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs.
- Ability and willingness to operate and safely drive electric carts.
- Ability and willingness to work in all weather conditions.
