Overview
The RN Lactation Specialist provides direct patient care in assessing, assisting, and support of infant nutrition, particularly breastfeeding, to infants, adult and adolescent mothers, and families based on clinical experience. Assessing care would extend to NICU mother and baby units. The Specialist can conduct lab draws and acts as an educational resource to staff and physicians, as well as to the community while promoting collaboration and communication. The Specialist participates effectively in the daily operations of both inpatient and outpatient care including duties assigned that cannot be done without RN licensure.

Provides assessment, assistance, and support of infant nutrition, particularly breastfeeding, to infants, adult and adolescent mothers, and families. The Lead provides education to staff and physicians, as well as to the community. The Lead participates effectively in the daily operations of both inpatient and outpatient care including duties assigned that cannot be done without RN licensure.
As required by licensure. BSN or degree in progress strongly preferred. BSN may be required for specific assignments; experienced RNs without a BSN may be hired based on clinical experience with approval of the site CNO.
Experience: Must have experience in direct patient blood draw and a minimum of one year experience with direct clinical/patient assessment.
