PDS Optical is seeking an Edger Operator to work in our Optical Lab on Bishop Lane! 

As an Edger Operator you will control the optical manufacturing equipment that edges, cuts, or grinds optical lenses for proper fit into the selected eyeglass frame. 

This is an entry-level position with the hours of 4:30pm to 1:00am, Monday - Friday. The starting pay rate for this position is $17.00/hr. Employees will receive on the job training, while optical or production experience is helpful, no experience is necessary.

Essential Functions

  • Operate the Edger machines in the lab
  • Know the order of production and make sure the "PRIORITY JOBS" are ran first
  • Read the work ticket to define edge specifications
  • Properly scan trays in and out of your area
  • Prepare frame by removing screws if necessary
  • Be prepared for jobs with specified bevel and polish edges.
  • Wet Edgers - Spray out the machine with water, clean "Poly Swarf" out of filter, wipe down the machine and clean up your work area
  • Dry Edgers - Dump the vacuum bags, change the cutter, run probe calibration on the Dry Edgers, wipe and clean up your work area. 

Work Environment

This position is located in our Finish Department of our optical laboratory and operates in a production/manufacturing type setting. The temperature can sometimes be warm, and the noise level can be somewhat loud. This position also requires working in close proximity to a diverse group of other co-workers.
