Clinical Research Assistant
This position is for the Division of General Academic Pediatrics (GAP) within the Department of Pediatrics. Prior medical and/or research experience is preferred. Bilingual in Spanish/English is required. The incumbent will work with team members to screen, enroll, and conduct study visits on research participants who are enrolled in clinical trials in both Spanish and English. Travel, while rare, does occur to the division's satellite site. If not utilizing public transportation, a valid driver’s license is required. It is the expectation that the incumbent will use their own vehicle required for local travel and the owner of the vehicle must carry automobile liability insurance. The owner’s automobile liability insurance coverage is primary coverage. The University’s automobile liability insurance policy provides excess coverage only. Equivalent relevant work experience may be substituted for degree requirement. PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check will be required prior to the start of employment. Conducts research assessments and procedures independently. Oversees operations when leadership is unavailable. Recruits and screens participants, reviews records and surveys, and maintains databases. Performs routine data analysis and prepares reports, data visualizations, and models.
• Conducts research assessments/procedures independently, including obtaining vital signs and brief medical histories, processing specimens using centrifuge, performing phlebotomy, preparing samples for shipment, and assisting with other clinical procedures as directed.
• Oversees operations when leadership is unavailable; assigns work tasks and provides support.
• Recruits, screens, and enrolls research participants. Follows up with study participants to schedule appointments and maintain study retention.
• Reviews participants' medical records, collects and codes surveys, and verifies active status for participants.
• Attends relevant meetings and prepares reports, data visualizations, and basic models identifying progress and trends.
• Maintains and updates databases for registry assessments and clinical trial forms.
• Orders supplies, maintains inventory, and organizes laboratory.
• Performs data analysis involving routine procedures.
• Assists in preparing standard operating procedures and manuals.
Light to medium. Requires walking and standing for periods of time; may involve lifting and moving boxes of supplies.
