This is a Full Spectrum Leadership position for the Orion program focused on building, leading, and managing an integrated team of software, hardware, and system engineers. This SW Integrated Multidisciplinary (SWIM) team will be responsible for delivering an integrated software, firmware, and hardware products for the Onboard Utility Network (OUN) subsystem. Specific tasks will include, but are not limited to: Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions; Lead the team to develop and deliver integrated SW/HW products for the OUN subsystem; Manage tasking, budget, and planning for the team; Manage communication with internal and external stakeholders and customers. Candidate will be responsible for providing direction to subordinates based on general policies and management guidance and ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget. Candidate must have the ability to work in a team-oriented environment to achieve long-range goals and objectives. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to perform self-initiated assignments and requires knowledge of embedded flight software design, system integration, Orion mission requirements, planning and coordination with multiple software development, spacecraft engineering and data engineering/maintenance teams. Candidate will also work with hardware and software CPEs, ground software development peers, subject matter experts, and test engineers.
2 years as Technical lead of a software or systems engineering development team
Demonstrated hardware engineering, system engineering and hardware-software Integration capabilities on a large scale, complex aerospace program.
Demonstrated software development experience and hardware-software Integration/test lab experience. Knowledge of software engineering principles, verification and validation of requirements, and understanding the risk management process is required.
Demonstrated communication skills, both verbal and written with the proven ability to communicate to customer and management in a clear and concise manner.
Demonstrated ability to interact with the customer and build effective relationships. Ability to support moderate travel.
Knowledge of systems engineering principles, network architecture analysis, verification and validation of requirements, and understanding the risk management process
Experience with data-driven system architectures and flexible mission implementation highly desired. Experience with the complete spacecraft life-cycle (design, build, test, launch, operations).
Experience with subcontractor management.
Experience with HW and/or SW Procurement and COTS integration.
NASA Customer Experience.
Spacecraft Integration and Test Experience.
Knowledge of Orion MPCV Channelization, PDU, RS-422, ODN, ASRS, H&S, DEM, and RET Regarding software/hardware integration.
Familiarity with the Orion mission requirements and experience in human spaceflight flight software development
