Basic Function:
Reporting to the Business Analyst Manager, the Senior Business Analyst is a hybrid or remote position that will provide functional and technical support services for Clark's portfolio of administrative applications, reporting and data analytics tools, and core business processes.
They will collaborate extensively with staff in administrative business units, as well as Administrative Information Services (AIS) and other parts of University Information Technology Services. As a senior member of AIS they will provide mentorship and support for junior members of the team.
Major Responsibilities:
- Determine administrative needs by meeting with directors and managers, discussing goals, objectives, options, capabilities and cost/benefit; analyze user needs and objectives in conjunction with specific administrative capabilities and restrictions.
- Consult with business users to define and create specifications for administrative system enhancements; translate data integration and reporting needs into accurate development requirements.
- Develop, implement and lead detailed project management plans aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of campus-wide administrative information systems.
- Cultivate and nurture robust relationships with assigned administrative departments while enhancing understanding of their business processes to provide more effective support for their operations. Act as a liaison between departmental users, IT staff and third-party vendors to clarify requirements, resolve questions or identify tradeoffs between functionality and performance.
- Serve as lead analyst regarding system design issues; represent design team in meetings; provide input in determining project scope; define design parameters of the project in consultation with functional units.
- Work with supervisor to assign priorities to requests and set direction for process and application development.
- Consult with other IT staff concerning information systems capabilities and technology. Provide feasibility guidance and cost estimates as needed.
- Support, integrate, and maintain third party applications and administrative systems that augment the University's central ERP system - Ellucian Banner.
- Ensure that data standards and administrative office policies & procedures for maintaining data elements within the system are being consistently applied.
- In cooperation with supervisor and administrative staff users, develop and implement reporting procedures for Federal, State, and institutional reporting requirements.
- Develop datablocks and reports using Evisions Argos and SQL to support business users' reporting needs.
- Develop/maintain content for the IT knowledge base and conduct training sessions to elevate the technical and functional capacities of Clark's user community with regard to the university's administrative tools.
- Collaborate with junior members of the AIS team, offering mentorship to foster their growth in institutional knowledge and technical expertise.
- Other duties as needed by the department and defined by the supervisor.
Job Requirements:- BS in information management, computer science or related discipline; Master's degree preferred. A minimum of 5 years advanced technical experience in a position of comparable complexity and scope. Comparable success and work experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.
- Must possess leadership and decision-making skills necessary to plan all elements of a project, including developing objectives, requirements justification, assigning tasks to project members, and managing the overall project.
- Technical and functional knowledge of multiple Ellucian Banner modules and/or other complex administrative applications in support of university business procedures is required.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with enterprise-level reporting and data visualization tools is required; experience with Evisions' Argos and Tableau is desired. Working knowledge of Oracle and Microsoft SQL server database/utilities is desired.
- Demonstrated passion for problem solving; strong project management skills and the proven ability to build trust and work well with all levels of management and technical staff.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to communicate effectively with people at varying levels of computer literacy, and the ability to establish collaborative working relationships at all levels of the University is required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to set priorities and work concurrently on multiple tasks and projects; ability to communicate progress/problems to appropriate personnel effectively.
- A high degree of integrity relative to computer security and confidentiality of information required.
- Ability to work nights and weekends on an as-needed basis is required
