Essential Job Functions:
The incumbent of this position processes payments, enters new civil and DV cases, and processes any and all pleadings filed thereafter. This position also schedules cases.
Process, schedule, and perform data entry for civil, landlord/tenant, domestic violence, peace orders, and emergency evaluations. Prepare transmittals for Sheriff?s Department.
Performing cashier duties which include operating the register, validating, and collecting all monies, fines, fees, and costs assessed and collected by the court. Prepare all necessary deposit slips and paperwork for Dunbar; call in deposits. Greet, assist, and inform general public of court procedure.
Explain and distribute civil, landlord/tenant, domestic violence, peace order, emergency evaluation, and ERPO forms, and other forms used in the clerk?s office.
Answer the telephone and directing calls to correct sections. Answer civil, landlord/tenant, domestic violence, and peace order calls.
Perform any assigned duties consistent with the employee?s classification in any section or location of the particular district.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma (or GED equivalent).
Experience: One (1) year of work experience, preferably in court operations or in the fields of criminal justice, parole and probation, legal or financial services.
Note:
A Bachelor?s Degree may substitute the required work experience.
A Paralegal/Associates Degree or 60 college credits may substitute the required work experience.
A Paralegal Certificate may substitute the required work experience.
Knowledge:
District Court operating procedures in order to be able to direct the public appropriately, and to accurately process monies and filings.
Skill in:
Handling money, making change, using a credit card machine, and preparing bank deposits; excellent command of computer software.
Ability to:
Ability to communicate effectively with public in person and on the telephone; ability to work as a team player; ability to set priorities; ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions; ability to operate a personal computer, along with the ability to operate various types of office equipment; and the ability to work in pressure situations and be able to exercise independent judgment and initiative.
Physical Requirements:
Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Equipment, Machinery and Tools:
Telephone, computer, cash register, calculator, copier, fax, scanner, credit card machine, cash counting machine.
Software and Computer Skills:
MDEC, Microsoft Office Suite, File & Serve, CONNECT, SharePoint
