Position Summary:

As a Pavement Project Manager and Design Engineer at Mantis Innovation, you will oversee the planning, execution, and successful completion of asphalt and concrete paving projects. You will be responsible for managing project timelines, cost tracking, and collaborating with internal and external teams to ensure that projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This role requires a combination of construction expertise, project management skills, and effective communication to drive high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities - Project Management

    • Manage the full life cycle of pavement construction projects, from initial planning through to completion.
    • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure materials and resources are available and meet project specifications.
    • Assist with cost estimating, job costing, and contract management to maintain project profitability.
    • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones are met and deadlines are adhered to.
    • Oversee safety protocols, ensuring compliance with all safety standards and regulations on the job site.
    • Ensure that all project documentation is accurate and up to date, including contracts, invoices, and progress reports.
    • Collaborate closely with the engineering, design, and field teams to ensure project quality and resolve any issues that arise.
    • Build strong relationships with customers and contractors, addressing concerns and providing updates.
    • Monitor and ensure adherence to pavement construction quality standards and regulatory codes for both asphalt and concrete work.
    • Supervise and mentor project team members, providing guidance and ensuring effective communication across all departments.
    • Assist with project closeout and ensure all documentation and requirements are completed.

Key Responsibilities - Pavement Design Engineering

    • Design and develop concrete and asphalt criteria for specific project requirements.
    • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Provide technical guidance and support to construction teams.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to pavement performance or application.
    • Stay up to date on industry knowledge and construction best practices.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to work effectively with customers, subcontractors, and team members.
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction documents, and schematics.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Knowledge of asphalt and concrete paving processes, construction techniques, and quality control standards.
    • Ability to troubleshoot, resolve issues, and make quick decisions to keep projects on track.
    • Strong leadership and team collaboration abilities, with a focus on building positive working relationships.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle fieldwork in varying weather conditions.
    • Flexible schedule, including possible nights and weekends.

Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
    • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in construction management, with specific experience in paving projects (asphalt and/or concrete).
    • Experience with managing municipal or commercial paving projects preferred.
    • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time to job sites.

Preferred Qualifications

    • Licensed PE in multiple states
    • 5+ years of project design and specification writing experience for large scale asphalt and pavement projects.

$120,000 - $130,000 a year
