Ellsworth Corporation, a global, industry leading distributor of specialty chemicals and equipment and adhesive manufacturer currently has a Technical Estimator opportunity at Ellsworth Adhesives. This role reports into our TapeCase Division located in Elk Grove Village, IL. The ideal candidate will be able to work on-site at our facility in Elk Grove Village.

At TapeCase, we design, convert, manufacture, and distribute highly engineered adhesive tape products. The Technical Estimator analyzes project requirements, plans, and specifications to identify labor, material, equipment, and service needs. Develops cost estimates for projects based on work scope, specifications, and contract proposals using applicable estimating methodologies and tools. Manages the sales opportunity from technical sales to the initial production process (including understanding customer requirements, supporting design changes, quoting custom requests, purchasing/designing tooling, creating the BOM, and evaluating/improving the production process).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with customers and company resources to recommend machinery and tools to use to manufacture products.
  • Reads blueprints, understands the quality requirements and the feasibility of the project, and creates red-line drawings for any requested changes.
  • Uses benchmark data, trends, prior estimates, and historical pricing schedules to generate detailed cost estimates that consist of itemized lists of expenses, labor hours, material quantities, and potential cost variations.
  • Designs and purchases production tooling, creates BOM to dictate the raw material purchases, and creates routing to set up the production processes.
  • Creates Excel-based quotes using customer requirements, material characteristics, the size of order, and other applicable factors

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience with flexible materials and the non-metallic converting industry required
  • Experience in estimating or quoting preferred
  • High School diploma or GED required, Associates/Technical degree preferred

  • Basic Excel knowledge of formulas required
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel formulas preferred
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written (English)
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees of varying education levels across multiple divisions
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 standards and requirements preferred
  • Strong basic math skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints preferred
