The Summer Transition Specialist (STS) will collaborate with campus partners to provide seamless support to students as they begin their college journey. The Summer Transition Specialist will implement a robust outreach schedule, participating in a variety of summer transition events including New Student Orientations and Transfer Orientations. The Specialist will conduct workshops, presentations, call, mail, and email campaigns, to assist new students with their transition processes.
The STSs work together to meaningfully contribute to many aspects of Orientation, Welcome Weekend, and other summer transition programs. They contribute ideas and energy to the program development, assist with logistics, and serve as ambassadors to incoming students, family members, and supporters.
The role requires an organized, flexible, and collaborative individual who will engage with students, families, supporters, and the campus community to champion the goals of SIUE.
The contribute to the completion of the following specific tasks:
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure a seamless transition for new students.
- Foster a sense of belonging and community among students, families, and supporters through intentional engagement and relationship-building activities.
- Serve as a point-of-contact for incoming students conducting phone, mail, and email outreach efforts.
- Assist in coordination of New Student Orientation, Transfer Orientation, Welcome Weekend, and other transition program logistics.
- Assist in development and implementation of the career-readiness competencies of student leaders.
- Review and develop communications and presentation content for new student transition initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree
- At least one year experience in high school guidance counseling, teaching, advising, or similar.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with high school students.
- Familiarity with career pathways, college enrollment processes, and support systems for educational advancement.
- Proficiency in program planning and execution.
- Public speaking experience.
Anticipated Start Date: June 16, 2025
Anticipated End Date: August 1, 2025
Average Hours: 20-37.5 hours per week.
