Overview

Intelligent Waves is seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Network Administrator to support our mission critical work in support of our government customer at Eielson AFB, AK. Key responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance, implementing network updates, and ensuring security through patching and hardening. The role also involves monitoring LAN/WAN health, collaborating with ISPs, and setting up new sites using transport methods like SATCOM and 5G. Strong documentation skills are essential for maintaining installation, configuration, and operational processes.

Travel: Ability to travel up to 75% of the time and will be reimbursed based on IW policy, GSA Per Diem rates and DoD Joint Travel Regulations (JTR) as required.

 

Security Clearance: The Network Administrator must be a United States citizen and hold a current DoD Secret security clearance or higher.

 

Adherence to all customer site protocols is mandatory for employees.



Responsibilities

IT Support and Network Administration

  • Deliver end-to-end IT support services to end-users with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.

  • Provide network administration for Hyper-Converged Infrastructure, Virtual Environments, Switches, Routers, Firewalls, Encryption Devices, and other transport systems.

  • Perform installation, configuration, hardening, and testing for new and updated network changes.

  • Perform regular preventative maintenance on IT networks.

  • Proactively monitor network health and status across LAN and WAN environments.

Security and Compliance

  • Implement and test patches and security fixes as required by the Network Operations and Security Center (NOSC) or Program Management Office (PMO).

  • Observe all technical and architectural standards, as well as Department of Defense (DoD) and Air Force (AF) guidance.

  • Provide input to and comply with Configuration Management (CM) processes.

Network Operations and Expansion

  • Interface with government and commercial Internet Service Providers (ISPs).

  • Provide initial stand-up of new sites utilizing multiple network transport methods, including government transport, commercial ISP, SATCOM, and 5G technologies.

  • Develop, execute, and refine documentation related to installation, configuration, hardening, and operations and maintenance (O&M) tasks.

Documentation and Communication

  • Document activities, statuses, and issues encountered during operations.

  • Build and maintain positive rapport and effective partnerships with peers and relevant team members.

Additional Duties and Requirements

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to occasionally travel away from the normal duty location, including CONUS and OCONUS deployments.

  • Willingness and ability to travel via military and commercial aircraft.

  • Availability to work atypical hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, shift work, and/or overtime to meet mission requirements.



Qualifications

  • Possess a Bachelor degree in a Computer Science related field or the equivalent combination of at least four (4) years of related education, professional training, or work experience.
  • Possess at least five (5) years of experience in Network Administration (preferably in an Air Force environment).
  • Possess an IAT Level II certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M (i.e., Sec+ CE [MCSA]).
  • Possess experience in providing Configuration Management, Fault Management, Network Administration, and Documentation support services preferred.
  • Possess knowledge of common base-level (Air Force) communication and IT systems, as well as familiarity with Air Force Instructions (17 and 33 series), especially 33-115v1.
  • The ability to have a thorough understanding of the customer's mission needs and be completely knowledgeable of hardware and software capabilities and limitations supporting that functional system.
