Laboratory Research Technician



The Department of Biological Sciences in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Laboratory Research Technician. Responsibilities will include animal husbandry, tissue preparations, making solutions, pouring plates, and molecular biology (including, but not limited to cloning and PCR). Technician will be responsible for dissections and cell preparations, as well as experiments on the prepared cells. Must have strong verbal communication skills, be organized, willing to speak and present in lab meeting, and able to handle instructions provided by researchers.


Job Summary

Performs a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures. Prepares specimens. Oversees supply management. Operates and properly maintains equipment.


Essential Functions

Incumbent must have strong verbal communication skills, time management skills, attention to detail, and be well organized.


Physical Effort

Incumbent is required to lift up to 15 lbs; Incumbent is required to have fine motor skills; Incumbent is required to stand for extended periods and use a step stool.
