Civil Design, Inc. (CDI) is a multi-disciplined civil engineering firm offering civil site, structural, land surveying, and GIS services. Since its founding in 1996, our team has grown to over 150 team members with six locations. We operate in three states serving our six service lines - Infrastructure + Analytics, Site, Structures, Survey, Transportation, and Water Resources. We have office locations in Missouri – St. Louis and Jefferson City, Illinois – Collinsville and Effingham and Kentucky – Louisville and Prestonsburg.


We are looking for a Civil Planner to support our CDI mission in Building Stronger Communities. By contributing to projects and engaging with the team, you will support our mission and developing a better tomorrow.

Key Responsibilities:

· Familiarity with local and state land planning codes, rules, regulations, etc. and have the ability to proactively keep up to date with current information/requirements.

· Communicate effectively with the Civil Site Team in order to guide personnel to design/incorporate land planning information into the project design.

· Review project plans and drawings to ensure planning codes are being properly shown and enforced.

· Have the ability to present the project to the public and/or local planning boards, and clearly explain the project parameters, details, variance requests, etc.

· Develop relationships with current and future site civil clients by face-to-face interactions. This would involve an outgoing and confident personality.

· Attend planning and other related conferences in order to keep abreast of current standards, as well as meet industry professionals and develop relationships with those peers.

· Demonstrate the ability to take initiative, work independently, and proactively execute tasks.

· High level of self-motivation with a strong focus on delivering relationships with team members and clients.

· Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills in order to produce a high quality work product.


Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Experience with AutoCAD software is a plus.

· Planning and project management skills.

· Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships.

· Strong analytical, critical, and logical thinking skills.

· Knowledge of industry including municipal, state agencies, and private clients.

· Involvement in industry organizations and professional groups.

· Ability to spot new business opportunities and quickly evaluate opportunities.

· Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, capable of presenting/conveying ideas clearly and persuasively to the target communities.

· Excellent interpersonal skills that support building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, prospects and team members.


Education and Experience

· 5-10+ years of professional planning and communications experience – involvement with multiple projects from beginning to end.

· Bachelor's degree in Planning, Civil Engineering, or Architecture.


This role can be based out of the Prestonsburg KY or around Louisville KY. The travel expected is up to 10%.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $65,000-$90,000year. Compensation will vary based upon relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.
