ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Business Development & Events Manager leads the development and execution of large, marquee client events and develops processes and resources to ensure a consistently high degree of quality in client events across the firm. This role requires a creative thinker with a strategic, proactive mindset, extensive knowledge of the legal industry, and a deep understanding of what makes client events successful, both from a guest experience and business development perspective. The successful candidate will also have a strong focus on process and project management, as well as the return on investment (ROI) of our events.

  • Serves as lead for the firm’s largest marquee client events with the support of the firmwide Events Team on logistics.

  • Serves as a leader at the firm globally on client events, developing and sharing best practices across the Marketing team, and providing guidance on client event strategy to the Marketing team.

  • As a subject matter expert, designs and implements repeatable processes for client and firm events with colleagues. Serves as a valuable resource to colleagues across the firm for managing successful events.

  • Responsible for creating and maintaining resources such as events checklists and best practices documents, template emails to partners about upcoming events/mailing lists, and template/example event invitations, among others. Contributes to existing resources, including venue database and Salesforce campaigns.

  • Implements processes for tracking ROI of events and prepares reports to firm leadership on successful events from an ROI perspective. Monitors the quantity and quality of firm client events, utilizing the firm’s Salesforce events dashboard.

  • Thinks creatively about how to connect our attorneys with our clients in meaningful ways. Keeps abreast of the newest, most exciting venues and experiences in key markets.

  • Prepares MoFo event attendees with background materials (attendee profiles, etc.), as appropriate. Facilitates introductions to client attendees, where appropriate.

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent significant experience.

  • At least ten years of relevant experience in events management; law firm experience preferred.

  • Thorough knowledge of client event management and law firm practices with direct work experience required.

  • Prior experience with Salesforce strongly preferred.

  • High degree of motivation, with driving sense of responsibility, accountability, and responsiveness.

  • Strong business acumen; the ability to recognize event opportunities and to pursue them strategically.

  • Excellent attention to detail in all areas, including writing, copy editing, researching, and managing data.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple requests, assess priorities, and achieve solutions under strict deadlines.

  • Ability to quickly assess information, anticipate issues, and make effective decisions, including ability to draw clear conclusions from a diverse collection of data.

  • Talent for creating client satisfaction; demonstrated ability to focus on the client value in all work.

  • Reliable, dependable, and motivated to respond to requests quickly.

Where required by law, salary ranges are stated below. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus, overtime as applicable, health/welfare benefits, retirement contributions, paid holidays, and PTO. The range displayed is specifically for positions performed in those cities/states and may vary based on factors including but not limited to the following: local market data and ranges; an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience; and certain degrees, licensing, and certifications.

New York, San Francisco salary range: $164k to $229k

Los Angeles, Washington, D.C. salary range: $156k to $218k
