Description

The Digital Modernization Sector has an opening for an MECM Engineer / Windows System Administrator to work in Woodlawn, MD.

This position will require onsite work in Woodlawn, MD five days a week.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, maintain/patch, decommission, and ensure compliance of Microsoft Windows operating systems (workstations and servers) enterprise-wide.

  • Improve and maintain Windows Server and workstation patching process and cycle; actively verify and apply security patches.

  • Create, validate, deploy, and rollback enabled packages for COTS, GOTS and custom applications through enterprise using MECM / SCCM.

  • Use collections and query creation to manage applications, deploy compliance settings, or install software updates.

  • Provide on-call support for Microsoft Windows fleet.

  • Provide subject matter expertise in one or more of these areas: MECM, automation/scripting, security, monitoring and alerting, incident response optimization, patching, and other operation support tools.

  • Investigate and actively support with operational team to ensure business continuity regardless of component: end-user workstation or windows server, custom applications, middleware, networking, or database (PL/SQL and Data Modeling).

  • Brief management, customer, team, or vendors using written or oral skills at appropriate technical level for audience.

  • All other duties as assigned or directed.

Foundation for Success (Required Qualifications): 

This experience is the foundation a candidate needs to be successful in this position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a related field.  Additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • 4+ years of combined experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), and Microsoft Windows system administration.

  • 4+ years of combined experience administrating Microsoft Windows 10, Virtual Machines, and Microsoft Windows Server.

  • 2+ years of experience in on-call operation support role for a mission critical system.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Factors to Help You Shine (Required Qualifications):

These skills will help you succeed in this position:

  • In-depth knowledge and experience analyzing, researching, troubleshooting, maintaining, and upgrading MECM/SCCM platform and associated SQL Server database configurations.

  • Experience using MECM / SCCM to include configure, manage, and triage Windows hardware and software patching.

  • Experience installing, upgrading, and administrating Microsoft PFE client.

  • Hands on experience with administrating Microsoft Windows 10, and Microsoft Windows Server (2019, 2022) through MECM.

  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy Management.

  • Experience automating tasks with PowerShell or other scripting languages.

  • Basic networking skills (TCP/IP, DHCP, and DNS).

  • Experience creating custom MECM/SCCM reports, and SQL based reporting to perform routine audits and inventory.

  • Experience ensuring compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines across network.

  • Experience creating custom Operating System Deployment (OSD) task sequence, and Windows Image (WIM).

  • Solid experience triaging and monitoring complex issues, outages, and incidents as part of on-call support rotation.

How to Stand Out from the Crowd (Desired Qualifications):

Showcase your knowledge of Microsoft Windows workstation and server fleet through the following experience or skills:

  • Familiarity with SQL Server and Internet Information server.

  • Experience using Splunk for monitoring and triage.

  • Experience using Jira to track and manage helpdesk.

  • Experience with Hyper-V, and VMware.

  • Knowledge of AWS or Azure cloud services and the cloud ecosystem.

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA).

Pay Range:

Pay Range $72,150.00 - $130,425.00
