Responsibilities

The Machine Tool Operation Shift Supervisor is a key technical resource for the ADS manufacturing and MTO facility supporting tooling and equipment rebuilds. The MTO Shift Supervisor is heavily involved in assisting the Production Manager with facility production workflow, scheduling technicians on projects, coordinates incoming, outgoing equipment and materials. Assisting in maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient work environment for all employees.

 

Primary Job Responsibilities:
• The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
• Facilitate shop workflow with organization of incoming, outgoing equipment and materials.
• Effectively assist in managing equipment documentation, information, and transactions in a CMMS (Maintenance Connection & Oracle).
• Assist in insuring equipment builds and repairs meet or exceed quality documentation and safety.
• Assist quality engineer with operational checklist, and visual inspection of equipment prior to shipping.
• Communicate with all levels of maintenance technicians, repair specialist within the MTO team along with outside ADS support services and vendors.
• Daily Gemba walk (workplace walk through) to determine daily material or parts needed to be ordered for projects, daily shop consumable needs, and scheduling priority changes.
• Assist in creating and maintaining a safer and more efficient work environment through documentation, organization, process, equipment, and facility layout.
• Be the first line of contact on the floor for complex issues and guidance.
• Occasionally cover Production Manager and or other support staff as needed for vacation leave.

• Basic MS Office & computer skills
• Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization and collaboratively work within teams and projects
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment
• Inventory management
• Strong systematic problem-solving skills
• High level of technical understanding of manufacturing methods and procedures
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to read and understand equipment drawing packages
• Basic industrial mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and pneumatic skills
• Understand purpose and proper use of small hand and power tools
• Familiarity and ability to comply with all applicable rules, regulations, best practices, and performance standards
• Knowledge of welding and fabrication
• Self-motivated to bring projects in on- time and within budget
• Vendor management ensuring on-time and on budget project delivery

 

Educational Requirements:
• High School or Vocational School Diploma or equivalent
• 2 or more years of project or employee management experience working in manufacturing

 

Preferred Experience:
• 10 or more years of experience in an industrial job/project shop
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment
• Machine shop equipment and machining knowledge
• Basic Project Management software
• Experience operating forklifts and cranes to move heavy equipment
• Experience and knowledge of quality procedures and tools to check and
• document parts and equipment

 

Physical Requirements:
• Lift and move items weighing 75 pounds or more at times
• Perform work, for extended periods of time in extreme hot or cold work environments
• Specific shifts may require standing or being mobile for minimum of 8 hours

 

Other Requirements:
• 0% - 5% travel is typical
• Able to work on equipment in Manufacturing Environment
