Overview
Performing Arts Services, a division of Campus Support Services, provides a broad range of event, performance, and venue support services for the Princeton University community including front of house, guest services, ticketing, logistics, venue management, and production support. The Performing Arts Services division oversees Richardson Auditorium, Lewis Arts complex, the Frist Theater and University Ticketing and provides support for performance spaces across campus.
A member of the Performing Arts Services division of Campus Support Services, the Venue Manager for the Art Museum complex coordinates a cross-departmental service team providing a broad range of facility and daily operational support for the Art Museum complex. With high visibility and a proactive approach, the Manager provides one-stop facilities services, including logistical and technological support for classes, events, gatherings, and seminars. The Venue Manager serves as the central service resource for the Art Museum, the department of Art and Archaeology, and the Marquand Library in the complex, advocating for and representing their priorities, needs, and guidelines for space use.

The Venue Manager, serving as the primary contact for all needs within the Art Museum complex, coordinates a team of service providers, including Building Services and Campus Dining. The Manager supervises a Venue Associate who assists the Manager with the daily operational support of the complex.

The Venue Manager provides support for events, assisting internal event planners with logistical planning, setup planning and implementation, coordination of service providers, guest services, and technical support.
Â
Upon request, the Venue Manager provides logistical and technology support for the academic programs provided by the departments in the complex.

The Venue Manager works closely with the Art Museum’s front-of-house staff, serving as a resource for the information desk staff and docents as needed. The Manager serves as a backup to the Art Museum staff for the managing video displays throughout the Museum.

The Manager works closely, and in partnership, with Campus Dining and Restaurant Associates to coordinate the operations for the Mosaic restaurant. The Venue Manager works closely with the Department of Public Safety, with input from the departments, to help coordinate the security provided for the Museum. Working in concert with the Department of Public Safety, Environmental Health Services, and the complex user group, the Manager helps develop and implement emergency procedures, such as evacuations.

The Venue Manager coordinates requests for the use of the spaces, through the EMS scheduling system, ensuring that requests are carefully vetted with all groups and do not conflict with academic events, classes, and Museum operations.

As part of the Campus Support Services team, the Venue Manager assists with major University functions, including convocations and participates in department functions and committees.

Working in concert with the service team, the Venue Manager fosters excellent relationships with the students and departments across campus ensuring the needs of the supported groups and programs are met and the support is delivered with best-in-class service.

The principal duties and responsibilities of the Venue Manager include the ability to be flexible and adaptive to changing needs, able to work autonomously and with initiative, and be adept at problem solving. The Venue Manager must interact effectively with individuals at all levels within and outside the University, and develop a support team that is cooperative, collaborative, responsive, and proactive.

Oversees and coordinates daily operations
o Leads a cross-unit team providing oversight and operations for the space supporting the departments and users of the space
o Collaborates with the departments and service providers to implement class and event logistical plans
o Provides support for academic events and classes
o Serves as the first responder for AV needs in classrooms and occasionally provides AV operational support during classes
o Provides and supervises advance logistical planning for department needs, event support, and the development of support services for events
o Serves as the lead for all non-user group events in the complex
o Partners with Campus Dining and Restaurant Associates to support the operations of the Mosaic restaurant
o Provides supplemental support for access needs, mail and packages, and scheduling
o Assists with the operations of the loading dock
o Coordinates communications channels for the complex users

Assists with scheduling and ticketing
o Assists with scheduling of internal and external use of the space using the EMS scheduling system
o Serves as a back-up for departments with schedule requests
o As needed, assists with ticketing special events

Coordinates facility maintenance
o Coordinates facility maintenance, liaison with Facilities of building issues and needs, including upkeep, repair, custodial support, and replacement of furnishings and equipment
Â
Additional leadership duties, including:
o Staff supervision and development
o Budget oversight
o Major event support, including University convocations
o Other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
• Minimum three years’ experience in multi-use venues, such as art museum, student/campus centers, performing arts venues, event management, or comparable experience
• Demonstrated understanding and/or experience with arts management, production, and event support, or comparable experience
• Demonstrated experience in providing excellent customer service
• Demonstrated experience in staff management
• Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment
• Willingness and ability to work with a flexible schedule, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays, and long hours.
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and be a problem solver

• Demonstrated understanding of operations of museums
• Experience and working knowledge of academic settings
• Proficient computer skills
