Job Summary
THE UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY, Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce, is focused on preparing international policymakers to meet the demands of the 21st century. We are guided by James Patterson’s visionary approach to the integrated study of diplomacy and international commerce. Our school has four main areas of focus: Diplomacy, International Commerce, International Security and Intelligence, Development and International Organizations. We constantly refine our curriculum to ensure that we are effectively educating future global leaders across these concentrations. We are one of the nation’s leading masters programs in international affairs.

Primary duties associated with this position involve instruction, training and advising for students for careers in international affairs across our four concentrations. In addition, this position will be responsible for curriculum development of graduate-level programming and courses. Practical work experience is required. This experience could be working for the government, military, intelligence community, industry, a think tank or related organization. Preferred applicants will have experience teaching at the university level and demonstrated ability to effectively participate in scholarly activities.

The University’s mission involves three primary functions across our faculty cohort: instruction, research, and service. Each year, various ranking faculty work with the Office of the Dean to delineate their distribution of effort (DOE). This DOE outlines how faculty will spend their time. Of course, the DOE can fluctuate depending on an array of factors (e.g., grant funding, new course development, etc.).
